BBYC & GBC Winter Series & Coaching Clinics

RACING PROGRAMME
The Bucklands Beach Yacht Club and Glendowie Boating Club are pleased to announce their 2017 Winter Series which we will run through August to September.

The series will be raced on Sunday Afternoons from 1.00pm to 4.00pm on 13th, 20th & 27 August and 3rd September in a combination of Optimist & Starling Racing, & Fleet racing 420’s.

Prize Giving will be held at  Bucklands Beach Yacht Club on the 3rd September after Sailing.

OPITIMIST, STARLING & P.CLASS RACING
Race Series Details:
4 x race afternoons in your own boat
Pre-requirements: Own Boat or rental of a BBYC Optimist

420 FLEET RACING
Series Details:
4 x Fleet Race days with Spinnakers in BBYC 6 x 420’s
Pre-requirements: Be in a BBYC team racing schools team
or have sailed and raced before.

RACING REGISTRATION:

Opitimist, Starling & P.class racing:
Entry Fees: $50 per sailor or $15 per afternoon

BBYC 420s
Entry Fees: $110 per sailor or $30 per one afternoon session

COACHING PROGRAMME

On popular request The Bucklands Beach Yacht Club and Glendowie Boating Club are running Coaching Clinics from 9.00am to 12.00pm 13th, 20th & 27 August and 3rd September these will be run from at both BBYC & GBC and your drills will be combined together on the water.                                                    

Coaching Clinic’s
Week 1 13th August 2017 – Boat Set Up & Tacking (9.00am to 12.00pm)

Week 2 20th August 2017 – Tacking, Gybing & Mark Rounding’s (9.00am to 12.00pm)

Week 3 27th August 2017 – Boat Handling in the Start Box (9.00am to 12.00pm)

Week 4 3rd September – Putting it together (9.00am to 12.00pm)


RACING & COACHING CLINIC REGISTRATION:

Other Information:
 

One off sessions: Bookings are essential. A registration needs to be filled out the Friday before each one off session and payment to be made before. One off sessions are only for the Racing Afternoon Pogramme.

Before Racing Briefing and Rigging:
Please arrive at the Yacht clubs at least 30minutes early to help rig the boats.

Briefing:
Each briefing will be held at your own Yacht Clubs rigging area.  Rigging will need to be done before so we advise everyone to arrive at least 30mins before to get their boats all rigged up and ready to go before briefing. 

End of each Racing session/debriefing:
Every session will end with a debriefing and a sausage sizzle at your yacht club.

BBYC Centreboard:
The rigging area for the BBYC centreboard will be at the front of Wharf road on the parade.

BBYC Optimist Rental:
Please make enquiries to coach@bbyc.org.nz

BBYC 420s:
Those booked on this programme please meet the coach at the container next to the 420s and get all your boats rigged up before briefing. 

Parents Involvement:
We encourage the parents to be involved for the Winter Sunday Training  Series , and will be asking volunteers to help cook the sausage sizzle at the end of each session whilst the young sailors are been debriefed.

Clothing:
We do advise each sailor to wear the following: Winter wet suits, sailing booties, spray jackets, hats, sailing gloves, you will need your own life jacket.  Please make sure to have a dry set of warm clothes for the end of the day.
